CHARGE SHEET
A charge sheet is a written document of certain allegations addressed to tell the workmen what he is supposed or alleged to have done which is not acceptable as per the code of the conduct or as per the standing orders of the company.The main object of issuing a Charge sheet is to give an idea to the workmen exactly what misconduct has been committed by him so that he may submit his explanation in his defense.
The charge sheet issued to the workmen should not be consist of any vague particulars everything should be very much specific in the charge sheet and about the misconduct committed by the workmen. The charge sheet should consist the particulars of time , place of occurrence and the manner in which the incident alleged to have taken place so as to remove the vagueness and make the things definite and clear.
Things to remember while drafting a Charge Sheet -
- The charge sheet should be specific and must set out all the particulars of the incident very clearly.
- It is suggested to hold a regular inquiry before terminating the services of a workman.
- Vague statements which the workmen could not understand should be avoided in the charge sheet.
- The charge sheet should clearly depict that whether the misconduct done by the workman is a violation of the standing orders of the company or not.
- The misconduct done by the workmen should be mentioned clearly in the charge sheet and it should be mentioned with a proper reference to the standing orders how it is a misconduct.
- The charge sheet which is issued to the workman all the things as simple as anything.The workmen should not find any difficulty in understanding it.
- If the same misconduct for which the charge sheet is being issued , has been committed earlier also by the workman than it should also be mentioned in the charge sheet.
